Obituary of Thomas F. Mahler
Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On the evening of Saturday, April 30, 2011 our beloved Dad left this world to join our Mom in heaven. A resident of Grand Prairie, Texas, formerly of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, our father Tom was an amazing man who loved God, his children, his friends, job, a good Manhattan on the rocks and the hardest crossword puzzles known to man! He lived his faith each day, never met a stranger, all became a friend, please know he carried you all in his heart.
Our Dad showed us through this year long struggle with the effects of cancer to keep going, no matter what is presented to you, there are always miracles and happy times ahead, This fighting spirit and his faith in God are the legacy he leaves to his children Kathleen and Rick Boykin, Plano, Texas, Chris and Laurie Mahler, Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Thomas and Debbie Mahler, Philadelphia, Pa, Stephanie and Brent Dalton, Lawrenceville, New Jersey and Jonathon Mahler, Trenton, New Jersey. His grandchildren who adored him: Skylar and Taylor Boykin, Brandon and Madison Mahler, Zack and Ethan Mahler, Avery, Grayson and finally his spitfire Emerson Dalton. He is predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Kay (Cookie), his brothers Joseph, William, sister Mary Ellen and his parents. Left to keep the Mahler candle burning is his loving sister Barbara who kept him on his toes and in stitches throughout his illness.
An outside sale and event planner for the Ducky Bob’s Corporation he was also a member of the Fort Worth Hotel Association, Dallas Safari Club, the Arlington Elks Club, The Masons of Fort Worth.
The family would like to acknowledge Dr Scott Fleishauer, Dr Ben Bowers of Arlington. Our hearts will never forget the staff of Baylor Institute of Rehabilitation, specifically Dr Amy Wilson and Dr De Leon and their staff whose compassion and depth of understanding of the needs of our fathers care was an answer to prayer. Our Dad was able to regain a quality of life we never thought possible, we are so very grateful. We ask all friends and family that in lieu of cards and flowers that if it be within your means a contribution be made to Baylor Institute of Rehabilitation in our father’s name, specifically to assist patients who struggle with the need for extensive wound care. Donations can be sent to Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation, C/O Wound Care Center, 909 N Washington Ave, Dallas, Texas 75246
