Robert B. Kamping Sr., 86, of Lawrenceville, died Wednesday at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton. Born in Trenton, he had resided most of his life in Lawrenceville. Bob was a retired truck driver with Gulf Oil Company in Trenton. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served proudly with the 69th Infantry Division in the European Theatre of Operations. Bob was a former executive board member and chaplain with the Lawrence Township American Legion Post 414. Son of the late Fred and Ellen Yates Kamping and husband of the late Marguerite Sarvat Kamping, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Robert B. Kamping Jr. and his wife Christine, two grandchildren Angela Kamping and Jeanette Knochowski and her husband Adam, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville with Reverend Nina Reeder, pastor of the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton. Family and friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. American Legion services will be held at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Bob’s memory be made to the Lawrence Township American Legion Post #414, 100 Berwyn Place, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648
