Armand L. Ruderman, 80, of Hopewell Township, died Monday October 27th at Capital Health System at Fuld. Armand was born in 1928 in Carteret and moved to Trenton in 1934. He resided in Ewing Township for forty-four years and later moved to Hopewell Township in 1999. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1945 and then entered Franklin & Marshall College. Upon graduation from Franklin & Marshall in 1948 he entered and later graduated from Hahnemann Medical College receiving his M.D. degree in 1952. Dr. Ruderman served as a medical officer with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Upon completion of his military service, Dr. Ruderman opened his medical practice in Ewing Township and served the community for over four decades retiring in 1998. During his years in Ewing Township, he also served as the Township Physician taking care of the police and fireman. He served on various boards and committees with Capital Health System, the Mercer County Park Commission and other Mercer County committees for over twenty-five years. Armand also served as the Sunshine Foundation's childrenâ??s' physician for 20 years. This involved assisting with the organization and execution of 16 ""Dreamlifts"" of handicapped and terminally ill children on a one day excursion to Disney World. Dr. Ruderman accompanied these trips as the on-call physician. Additionally, he served the organization as the referral physician for all special requirements. Son of the late Louis and Gertrude Zier Ruderman, he is survived by his wife Gail Haskel Ruderman, a son Richard Ruderman M.D. and his wife Letitia, and two daughters Nancy Ruderman Fennelly and her husband Gerard, and Amy Ruderman Hall and her husband Howard, Also surviving are six grandchildren Alyson Dratch and her husband Andrew, Lindsay, Jonathan, and Gillian Ruderman, Matthew and Ashley Fennelly, two brothers Joseph Ruderman M.D. and his wife Pinky of Northridge, CA., Mark Ruderman M.D. and his wife Althea of Hartford, CT. and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday November 14th at 1 PM in the Bart Luedeke Center at Rider University, 2083 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville with Rabbi Daniel Grossman of Adath Israel Congregation officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Dr. Ruderman's memory be made to the Dr. Armand L. Ruderman Fund to benefit pediatrics at Capital Health Systems new hospital in Hopewell. Donations may be made C/O of Capital Health System Foundation, 433 Bellevue Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08618.
