I was so saddened to hear about Mr. Murphy’s death, and to me, he will always be Mr. Murphy, even though he asked me to call him Jim. I worked with Mr Murphy at NJM. He was the most kind, gentle, thoughtful, caring and honorable man. He was extremely responsible for and instrumental in advancing my career at NJM. He opened doors that had been closed to women, he supported & encouraged me, gave me confidence, I never wanted to disappoint him. What an honor & pleasure to have worked and known such a wonderful person. I am sorry that I was out of town and unable to attend his service. May his family find peace and comfort in knowing how admired and loved Mr. Murphy was by many.

My condolences on your loss. Jim was a great man whom I had the privilege if knowing through our work together at NJM and Diocesan Council. I will not be able to pay my respects in person as I am vacationing out of the country.

My heartfelt condolences and sympathy goes out to Mrs. Murphy, Tim, Brian, Regina and the entire family during this difficult time.
Mr. Murphy was a great man and a fantastic role model for all of us who had the good fortune of being friends with the Murphy family. When I was growing up there were a number of times when he had thoughtful words of encouragement for me, and other times when he went out of his way on my behalf. This meant a great deal to me then, and it still does today.
My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Murphy and all of you.

I was saddened to hear about Jim's passing. He was a good friend and co-worker and one of the nicest and honorable persons that I had the pleasure of knowing. And the icing on the cakes was that he was a serious and dedicated Philadelphia sports fan. We spent lots of time celebrating or commiserating {mostly commiserating}. He will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Jim Murphy was a blessing to all who knew him. He made all of us better people just by knowing him. He looked for the good in people with his Irish wit and his keen sense of humor. He was a master storyteller. I vividly recall sitting on the platform of the last train car as we traveled thru the Canadian Rockies. We just sat and listened late into the night as Jim kept us laughing with humorous tales of his involvement with soccer and the town government. As Asst Supt. of Schools in Lawrence Township I could always count on Jim for his support and encouragement.
Ginny and the Murphy family thank you for sharing Jim with the community of Lawrence Township. His legacy of honesty, concern for others and a love of life will remain with us for the rest of our lives.

I read of Jim's passing in the paper. I'm in FLorida or I would come and pay my respects. I remember meeting Jim and working with him on the St. Jude Novena. He was always very gracious and helpful! It seems t me he worked at the parking even though he always hoped for more help. I am sorry for the community, they lost a good man!
