I remember when George came home from the Army with his poor old car. I told him that his car looked like it had The Chicken Pox. He had been at White Sands Army Base and the sand storms made a mess of his paint job.

As the last of the McCormick brothers, my memories of brother George are limited. George had already moved on to the Army after graduating from UW by the time I reached 11 or 12. I remember going too the annual Armed Forces Day Parade around the capital square with mom and others. We always tried to pick out George marching in the ranks of his ROTC platoon.
Also remember the many hours George spent at his study table in the attic on Talmadge St. I still have his drafting T-square he left at home that I put to use in my studies. Till remember my high school days when I decided to a calculus class. The teacher, Mrs. Collin, scolded me that I didn't have the study habits and dedication that my brother George had when she taught him some 10 years or so earlier.
Ironically, Thursday morning, while doing my daily “mall walk” I decided to say a couple of HM's for George to have a peaceful and painless journey. He passed that same morning; taking into effect the time change it was within an hour. Ironically I also ended up in the telecommunications career for 37 years. Not to the stature or degree George had but with both manufacturers and service providers. I remember talking with George about the status and future of the industry when I was questioning my career path.
One thing for sure, George knew how to eat. I always tried to get my plate full ahead of him in line at the dinner table. If you were late, things got skimpy.
George was a hell of a brother and I am sure the same for husband, dad, grandpa and friend! God bless his family and especially Loraine for your love and care. I'm so sorry we can't make it for George's service. We were hoping mother nature would cooperate for traveling but it's not the case. This latest storm is going through with “lake effect” snow through IN and Oh and ice beyond and another one to follow the same path. Winter travel by car or air is risky at best.
All our love to the family in this period of sorrow.
