Marvin’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5: 28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

I worked with Marvin for the last 15 years at Rowan University. He was my colleague, but more importantly my friend. There are too many memories to share, but i think that those that knew him would agree that he was a larger than life personality with a heart of gold. The university is a better place because he was there. Personally, I'll always remember our morning coffee, golf excursions and our mid-day lunches. Wish I could shake your hand one more time. Miss you friend.

My late husband and I have known the Harris family for decades and have known
Marvin from when he was young.
I am also a member of Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church and remember
fondly his parents, Bob and Grace, and have been a guest in their home. Both my late husband and Bob sang in the choir, and I remember the solos Bob sang in church.
We were one of the couple who gathered on New Year's Eve for a Concert and to
see the New Year in. We went to the theatre together.
After Grace died, Marvin lovingly cared for his Dad. And it could not have been easy as he had a long commute to work and back.
Now Marvin is reunited with his parents.

Dear Marv's family,
Marv was a wonderful human being and a pleasure to work with. He not only did his duties as a technician but fed several of us very well. His culinary talents were outstanding. He also had a big personality and we enjoyed having him around. He will be sorely missed. I am still shocked at his loss.
Warm Wishes,
Beena

Dear Harris Family,
It is with great sorrow, that I learned of the passing of Marvin Harris, our Chemical Engineering Department’s technician for 19 years.
I came to know Marv over the years he worked in the Department, as I was the Founding Department Chair. Marv was instrumental in those early years in Rowan Hall, setting-up bench- and pilot-scale equipment in our laboratories, for teaching and research projects.
He was very helpful with a vast number of student activities, extending beyond his technical duties.
He gladly assisted faculty in our teaching activities, sometimes with a unique flair. One such occasion comes to mind. We had a small food engineering lab, where we would conduct engineering clinic projects and food engineering experiments. One year, I was looking for a new heat transfer experiment. It was right before Thanksgiving, and Marv volunteered to get a turkey and “instrument” it with thermocouples so students could monitor its cooking time in the oven.
Those were the days of small classes, and almost all students participated. Marv went the extra step that day to prepare all the traditional side-dishes, and after the last student’s measurement, he proceeded to carve the turkey and serve a meal to those students still on campus late that Wednesday afternoon.
At the end of the semester, I read through the students’ course evaluations, and one stood out. The student thanked Marv for preparing the turkey, since it was the only thanksgiving meal this student would get that year.
Marv’s tireless dedication to serving the needs of the students of Southern New Jersey is what we will remember most. He touched them in ways we may not ever have imagined.
I can go on and on mentioning times Marv helped the students, and I am sure others will leave their remembrances of him.
He will be sorely missed on the 3rd floor of Rowan Hall.

We will be forever grateful to Marvin Harris for the work that he did coordinating the fundraising, design, and construction of the Flag Memorial for our late son Robert Anthony Dusseau. Marv not only coordinated the original construction of the Flag Memorial in 2011, he also coordinated the reconstruction of the Flag Memorial in 2016 to accommodate the construction of the addition to Rowan Hall. Marv was a true friend and we will miss him very much. Sincerely, Ralph and Ann Marie Dusseau.

I want to take a moment to extend my deepest condolences to Marv's family and friends. He was one of the first friendly faces I got to know at Rowan when I arrived as a new faculty member in 2009. He was excellent resource and colleague over the years. He will be missed. Although I cannot attend the funeral because I am currently living abroad, he will be in my thoughts. Sincerely, Andrea

Mel, my brother, Mark, and I grew up across the street from one another in Pine Knoll. He was an integral part of my childhood memories and one the Pine Knoll gang.He was good natured and rarely without a smile.
As an adult, I remember how devoted he was to his dad and how kind he was to my mom. After she moved down south he would occasionally call or mail her his home baked goodies. When l told him she had moved back to a nearby assisted living facility, he surprised her that very afternoon with a visit, flowers in hand. Mel was kind and big hearted.
R.I.P. my friend.

He was a good, caring, hardworking, giving soul who never burdened anyone with his own issues but always had an open ear for others. Myself and close friends, and you know who you are, will miss him dearly and deeply.

I had the opportunity to work with Marvin for more than 10 years at Union Camp. He had dedicated to many projects of improving paper production. I always remember the time when he had to wear protective suits to enter the dryer machine at 170 degrees, and at night in our pilot plant next to a wastewater pool inhabited by several crocodiles. His untiring effort to collect data and his sharp observations has helped to advance manufacturing technology, sometimes not realized until recently. I will miss him a lot and will treasure his working ethics.

I worked with Marvin at Union Camp. It's hard to explain, but I learned some good life lessons from Marvin. After Union Camp, Marvin helped me when I needed it. He was generous with his time and always a kind soul. I had hoped to see him again some day. Rest easy, Marvin.
