Obituary of Dorothy Grocott Brodbeck
Dorothy Virginia Grocott Brodbeck passed into God’s loving arms on Thursday, October 4, 2018.
Wife of late Christian Jacob Brodbeck, daughter of the late Victoria Lesky Grocott and George Henry Grocott; mother of the late George Henry Brodbeck, sister of the late William Grocott, sister-in-law of the late Mae Grocott, and Ruth Trombley and mother-in-law of the late Claude Emerson; Dorothy is survived by her family, her sons, Glenn Anthony and his wife Nancy Love with whom she resided, Gary and his wife Sheryl, Bruce and his wife Linda, a loving daughter, Christine Emerson and loving daughter-in-law, Sandra Brodbeck, a sister-in-law, Betty Brodbeck Rainier and her husband George; nine grandchildren, George (Iryna); Lisa; Christian and Gary Jr. (Kristen); Holly Brodbeck Molnaur (John); Bruce Scott Brodbeck; Kelly Brodbeck Miscoski (Ryan); Candace Brodbeck and Glenn Brodbeck Jr.,eight great-grandchildren; Crystal, Kyle, Emma, and Casey Brodbeck, Kierstin Molnaur (Vincent), Madison Molnaur Abramowitz (Michael), Macy Mae and William Miscoski; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy attended Lawrenceville Schools where she met her husband, Chris. They raised their family in Trenton and Hamilton Township. She was employed by McGraw Hill, Hightstown until the time she accepted a support position with the State of New Jersey, Department of Health. She retired after 26 years of service.
Dorothy was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking for her large family. Sunday meals were prepared with love and family and friends were always invited. Dorothy loved to crochet and knit; blankets, sweaters, scarves, booties, and hats with pom poms. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to opera music. An active mother, she encouraged her children to ice skate, roller skate, ride a bike, swim, fish, or crab. Dorothy and family made frequent trips to Shore Villas in Seaside Park and Island Beach State Park. She could stay on the beach with her favorite book for hours. Long car rides to explore New Jersey were a favorite idea any day of the week.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 12 Noon at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Tuesday from 11AM until time of services at the funeral home.
