Obituary of Jose R. Pentecostes

JOSE R. PENTECOSTES, 83 years, retired SD2 US Navy Born: July 23, 1932 Died: December 7, 2015 Born in rural Nabua, Camarines Sur, Philippines to a humble farmer Quiterio & his wife Rosa, the young Jose could not have imagined that he would later live the Filipino-American dream. After graduating from high school, he worked a few years in the gold mines before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served from 1954 to 1973 during the Vietnam War as a steward aboard the USS Jamestown, Ranger, Theodore Chandler and Mauna Kea. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Lolita and children Jill, Joy & Martin, Glen & Michelle and Grace; grandchildren Joseph, Angela, Ethan and Zachary; siblings Beatrice, Elena, Lydia, Luis and Ernesto (deceased) and a large extended family on both sides of the Pacific Ocean. Lolo Joe died peacefully at home with family in New Jersey on the eve of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The Pentecostes-Lansang family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Hunterdon Medical Center & Hospice for their excellent care and compassion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 12, 2015 from 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. The viewing will be held in the Chapel at St. Ann for family and friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass. A brief military honors ceremony will follow the Mass. Interment will be on Monday, December 14, 2015 11:30 a.m. at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA. Those processing in the funeral cortege can meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Poulson Van Hise Funeral Directors.
