John “Pape” Erdie, 52, of Ewing, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at home. Born in Trenton, he was a former resident of Lawrenceville and Mercerville before moving to Ewing 25 years ago. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School Class of 1981. Pape retired from the State of New Jersey Dept. of Health. Pape was a parishioner at The Church of St. Ann, a member and former President of the Men’s Auxiliary of the Lawrenceville VFW Post #3022, the Lawrenceville American Legion Post #414 and the Merry Go Round Breakfast Club. He was a Harley Davidson Enthusiast and enjoyed traveling, fishing and time spent at the beach. He was a loving and devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, great-uncle and friend. Son of the late Julius M. Erdie, Sr., brother of the late Matthew J. Erdie; he is survived by his loving wife Denise Erdie; his mother Patricia Erdie; his sister Mary Ellen Erdie; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law Julius Michael Erdie Jr. and his wife Dawn, Patrick Erdie and his wife Kathy; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and numerous friends. The funeral will begin at 10AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 11:00AM at The Church of St. Ann 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment will follow at the Lawrenceville Cemetery. Calling hours for Pape will be held on Wednesday evening from 5-8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project PO BOX 758517 Topeka, KS 66675.
