John "Jack" T. Murphy, 86, of West Trenton passed away into gods loving arms on Monday.
Born in Trenton on October 3, 1928, he was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Murphy spent his entire career working for the State of New Jersey including the Governor’s Office.
He was a graduate of Trenton Catholic High School and Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. Mr. Murphy was a World War II Veteran and served in both Japan and Korea.
Mr. Murphy was a beloved husband and father. Son of the late George and Mary O’Loughlin Murphy, husband of the late Evelyn O. Murphy and brother of the late George J. Murphy Jr., and his sister the late Mary Ann McKee, he is survived by his children, John T. Murphy Jr. and his wife Marti, Kevin M. Murphy and his
wife Charmaine, Patrick J. Murphy, Timothy G. Murphy and his wife Lisa, Charlene A. Nelson and her husband John. He is also proudly survived by his eight grandchildren, John and Meaghan Murphy, Brendan and Oliver Murphy, Jake and Dylan Murphy and Patrick and Ian Nelson. He will be greatly missed by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 25 at 11 AM at St. James R. C. Church, 115 E. Delaware Ave., Pennington, NJ. Private family burial will be in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Washington Crossing, PA.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 9:30 AM until time of Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, due to cemetery restrictions, memorial contributions would be appreciated in his name to The Pennington School 112 West Delaware Ave., Pennington New Jersey, 08534.
