Obituary of Thomas C Walter

Thomas C. Walter, 70, of Hamilton Township, died Tuesday in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
Born in Trenton, he had resided his entire life in Hamilton Township.
He was a graduate of Hamilton High School Class of 1955.
Mr. Walter retired in 1988 after thirty-five years with New Jersey Bell Telephone.
He retired as the last 50th Armored Division Command Sergeant Major in the New Jersey National Guard in 1992 with thirty-six years of service.
His memberships include the 112th Field Artillery Association, the Sergeant Major Association, DISCOM Alumni, Enlisted Association of the New Jersey National Guard, and the Fort Dix Retiree Council. He also served with the New Jersey National Guard Drug Interdiction Program.
Mr. Walter served with the National Guard Militia Museum of New Jersey in Sea Girt and Lawrenceville and as treasurer of the Patriotic Committee of Hamilton Township.
Son of the late Christian and Thelma Applegate Walter, he is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Mary Ann Rogers Walter, two daughters Lynne Tomicki and her husband Stephen, Patricia Coniglio and her husband Frank, a son Christian Walter and his wife Mary Rose and seven grandchilden Stephanie Drum, Shawn Gliem, Stephan Drum, Sarah Drum, Christian Walter Jr., Angela Walter and Breana Tomicki. Also surviving are three brothers, Richard Walter and his wife Kathleen, William Walter and his wife Shirley and Donald Walter and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 9 AM from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Vincent DePaul R.C. Church in Yardville. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Visitation Home, 417 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville, NJ 08620.
