Stella E. Rowan, 94, of Lawrenceville died peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, at St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Unit at Morris Hall, Lawrenceville.
Born in Yorkshire, England, Stella was a resident of Levittown, Pa from 1953 to 2006 when she moved to Lawrenceville. She began her employment in 1964 with the Philadelphia State Hospital and retired as an administrator in 1982. While a resident of Levittown Stella was a member of the Emily United Methodist Church.
Stella was an accomplished soprano vocalist, singing professionally in England. While a resident of Levittown she was a member of the Delaware Valley Choral Society, the Emily United Methodist Church Choir, and later in life while a resident of Morris Hall, enjoyed singing for the residents. As an avid historian, she was also an expert on the English Monarchy having authored numerous articles for publication.
Daughter of the late William and Edith Lampard and step-daughter of the late Samuel Worsnop, she was the wife of the late William Ackerman, KIA while serving in the Royal Air Force and the late Samuel T. Rowan; Stella is survived by her daughter, Stephanie C. Barone and her husband John; her grandchildren, Cyndi Bergamini and husband Alan and Sean Loewy and his wife Karina. She is also survived by her great-grand children, Alyson and Salvatore Bergamini and Kerrigan and Rowan Loewy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Stella on Monday at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel at Morris Hall, One Bishops’ Drive, Lawrenceville, NJ. Private family burial services will be on Tuesday in the Emily United Methodist Church Cemetery, Levittown, PA.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 10 AM until time of mass at the chapel.
Memorial contributions for Stella may be made to St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Unit at Morris Hall, One Bishop’s Place, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
