Arthur was a resident of the Murray Hill section of Manhattan for over 60 years. He was born in Roebling, NJ on March 11, 1925 to Maude M. and Arthur R. Hartzell, Sr. Arthur graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1942; Duke University in 1949, with a BA in Economics; and the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School, in 1951, with an MBA in Transportation and Utilities. During World War II he was a U.S. Navy Seabee, serving in the Pacific, on Enewetak and Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands and on Tinian in the Marianas. For 32 years, Arthur worked for Pfizer at their headquarters in Midtown New York, where he had been the Director of Traffic. He was a member of the New York Traffic Club and the Princeton Club of New York. Arthur was a subscriber to the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Philharmonic, and other cultural institutions in the city. He was an avid reader who devoured everything from the daily papers to the classics. To the end, Arthur’s sense of humor remained intact. He always greeted us with a smile and was so appreciative of the little things we did for him. He will be remembered lovingly as a kind and thoughtful brother, uncle and friend and he shall be missed terribly. He was predeceased by his wife Theodora (Teddy) in 1984 and his companion Marion Young in 2013. Arthur is survived by his brother John Hartzell and wife Elizabeth of Hamilton, niece Susan Hartzell of Yardville and nephew Karl Hartzell and wife Rebecca of Belleville; cousins Richard Hartzell and wife Roanne of Pennsburg, PA, and the Zeaser clan of South Carolina, Florida and Costa Rica.
