Edward J. Laird, Sr., 83, of Ewing, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Capital Health Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Trenton, NJ, Ed was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Trenton Central High School and Mercer County Community College; retiring as a Project Engineer from Carter Wallace. Ed attended The Church of St. Ann. He was a member of the Trenton Elks Lodge #105 and a member of the NJ Starcraft Camper Club. Some of his hobbies included golfing, camping, fishing, playing darts, pitching quoits and watching New York Yankees baseball, auto racing and was just an all-around sports fan. Ed was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Edward P. and Stella V. Laird, brother Robert Laird, sister Mary Williams, and daughter-in-law Amy Laird. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years Alice S. Laird; his loving children, son Edward J. Laird, Jr. and dear friend April Anderson, his daughter, Therese L. Laird, son-in-law, John T. Querrazzi, and granddaughter Alyssa; his brother and sister-in-law Raymond E. and Charlotte Laird; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 11AM at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment will follow at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Ewing, NJ. Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening from 6-8PM and Wednesday morning from 10-11AM in the daily chapel at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. Trenton Elks Lodge #105 will conduct a service on Tuesday evening at 7:30PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ed’s memory to The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648, or to Deborah Heart and Lung Center, 200 Trenton Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015, or to the American Diabetes Association.
