Charles Edward Taranowicz, 90, of Hamilton died peacefully at home on Tuesday September 23, 2014. Born in South River, NJ, Charles was a resident of Lawrenceville most of his life prior to moving to Hamilton six years ago. Charles was a World War II Veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corp. Having participated in ground combat in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations and was involved with the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He loved playing violin when he was young and the accordion in his teenage years. While he was in the service, he loved playing for his friends in the Marine Corp. He truly loved music especially Polish, Big Bands and the Lawrence Welk Show. In his teenage years, he loved playing golf and throughout the years he enjoyed watching and playing baseball. Charles was employed by General Electric and was a union shop steward for a number of years. He then began working with the United States Post Office as a Postal Carrier for 28 years after which he retired. During this time and into retirement Charles was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. While employed by the Post Office, he worked for Princeton University in the security department for 15 years. Charles was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Hedwig Church and was a member of American Legion Post #458 North Trenton and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. During his life, he was involved in numerous activities with St. Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Church. Charles was devoted to his Faith, Country and Family. His Polish heritage and traditions meant everything to him. Charles truly loved being with his wife, Dorine. They were inseparable. Their love for God, each other and their family was breathtaking. Nothing was impossible they said with God. Charles was always concerned for others and helping family when needed. With his wife, they enjoyed dinners and dancing, traveling to the Mid-West to visit family and friends, taking vacations with family to Wildwood Crest, Atlantic City and frequent visits to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, PA. He also enjoyed taking his family out for Sunday rides and dinner. He enjoyed cooking with his wife for traditional family holidays and frequent gatherings with many in the Polish tradition. As years went on, he enjoyed being with his grandchildren and taking care of them. Son of the late Michael and Stephania Prosalowska Tataranowicz , husband of the late Dorine Kroeger Taranowicz, brother-in-law of the late Carmello Guagliardo from Robbinsville, NJ and the late Myra Kroeger from Wall Lake, Iowa. The late Naomi Errico of Stockton, NJ a family friend and lifelong companion to his brother, Anthony Tataranowiz. Charles is survived by his four daughters, Bernadette Bac and husband Greg of Lawrenceville, Barbara Czepiga and husband Walter of Lawrenceville, Patricia Smith and husband Richard of Hamilton and Catherine Vasil and husband Michael Sr. of Mercerville; eight grandchildren and nine great-grand children. Charles is also survived by a brother, Anthony Tataranowicz of Lawrenceville, two sisters, Teresa Tataranowicz of Lawrenceville and Anne Guagliardo of Robbinsville and his brother-in law Russell Kroeger form Wall Lake, Iowa. Also surviving are several nieces, nephew and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. Burial will follow in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery, Ewing Township. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, October 6, from 6 to 8 PM and again on Tuesday, October 7, from 10 to 10:45 AM in the daily chapel at the Church of St. Ann. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, 654 Ferry Road, P.O. Box 2049, Doylestown, PA 18901and the Mercer County Heart Association, 1 Union Street, # 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
