Obituary of David R. Friedeborn

David Robert Friedeborn, born in Norristown, PA on June 16, 1929 and longtime resident of Lawrence Township, NJ, husband of Norma Jane Silk Friedeborn, proud Father of Bruce David Friedeborn, Karl Harry Friedeborn, Susan Louise Friedeborn, John Robert Friedeborn and Thomas Norman Friedeborn passed away on June 16, 2014 at Mercy Suburban Hospital at the age of 85. He is survived by his daughter Susan, sons Bruce, Karl and Thomas, daughters-in-law Cynthia, Eileen and Louise, grandchildren Molly, Jennifer, Brian, Matthew, David, Glenn and Robby and special friend Lea Dickler.
David graduated Norristown High School in 1947 and married his high school sweetheart Norma Jane Silk in December 1951. He graduated Muhlenberg College and then served in the U.S. Navy from January 1951 to September 1954 on the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea. He graduated from Penn State University and continued with a long and distinguished career at the Educational Testing Service where he later retired. David was a longtime member of the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church where he served as a Session Member, on the Board of Deacons, Treasurer and Financial Secretary, and on many other Session Committees. With his wife and family in tow, he would travel the USA on vacation in the family station wagon. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed.
Family and friends can call for David on Thursday, June 19. 2014 from 4-7PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors 650 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2PM at the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church 1039 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Calling hours will be held from 1-2PM at the church. A gathering to celebrate his life will follow the service at the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church.
Interment will be held on Saturday at 10AM at the Valley Forge Memorial Gardens 352 South Gulph Road, King of Prussia, PA where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Norma Jane.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the ICU staff at Mercy Suburban Hospital for their care and support of Dad during his hospitalization. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund 1039 Lawrenceville Rd. Lawrenceville, NJ.
