Jerry Weisberg M.D.died peacefully with his family surrounding him at Capital Health Hopewell on January 24. He was born in Brooklyn NY in March 1927. He graduated from Peter Styvesant School of Science. He received his B.A. at NYU and M.S.c at Brown University, and his M.D. at the University of Buffalo. His education was interrupted during WW2 when he served in the US Navy. He completed his medical education at Hackensack University Medical Center. Dr. Weisberg was a founding member of the American College of Emergency Physicians. During his medical career, Jerry was Director of Emergency Medicine at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Director of Ambulatory Services and Emergency Medicine at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach Florida where he was also associate clinical professor of medicine, and was Director of Ambulatory Services and Emergency Medicine at St. Francis Medical Center. While in Trenton, he brought ACLS and PALS to St Francis. He devoted many hours giving lectures and bringing programs to the EMT’s and paramedics of Mercer County. He is predeceased by his parents, Lena (Holt) and Rubin Weisberg,infant daughter Laurie, and sisters Sylvia (Rhodes) and Esther (Shurr). He is survived by his wife, Doris Moran Weisberg, son William Weisberg, M.D., (wife Susan), Jennifer Millner, Esq. ( husband John), Michael Weisberg M.D. (wife Erin), and his grandchildren , Alex, Bryan, Steven, Ben, David and Patricia and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, June Fromm Weisberg. After his retirement, Jerry donated his time to Volunteers in Medicine where he provided medical care to individuals without health insurance. Jerry was active in the Jewish Community Center of the Delaware Valley and served on its Board of Directors. He was a director of the Lawrence Township Democratic Club and served as a Democratic Committeeman. He was also a member of the League of Women Voters, the American Legion and the Eggerts Crossing Civic League. Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 28 at 10-12 Noon at Poulson and Van Hise Funeral Directors 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Funeral services will follow for Jerry at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Lawrenceville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the local charity of your choice.
