Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Virginia R. (Babe, Ginny, Mom-Mom) Tartaglia died peacefully on January 8, 2014 at Capital Health Regional Medical Center, Trenton, New Jersey with her loving family surrounding her bedside. Virginia was born in Trenton and was a resident of both Yardville and Seaside Park, New Jersey where she had homes that she loved and shared with her extended family and friends. We all enjoyed so many stories of Virginia’s early life, beginning with her daily trek to St. Mary’s Cathedral in Trenton where she was cared for with love by the Sisters of Mercy for 12 years. Particularly significant was the role that Sister Columbus had in shaping mom’s intellect, character and strength. Virginia’s Catholic faith was bedrock for her and this relationship continued at Blessed Sacrament Church where mom served the parish for many years through the Altar Rosary Society and the Capitol Campaign to build the church that still stands today on Bellevue and Hermitage Avenue in Trenton. Mom and Dad met one another when they were 12 and 14 respectively which began their close 70-year relationship. They were blessed with 10 grandchildren all of whom fill their lives with love and laughter. It was in these last 30 years that Virginia became known as beloved Mom-mom. Daughter of the late Virginia (Gigi) and Edward Stanton, Virginia is survived by her husband of 63 years, Vincent J. Tartaglia also of Yardville and Seaside Park. Virginia’s six children survive her beginning with Linda Tartaglia and spouse Robert Johnson and daughter Molly Virginia; Diane Tartaglia and spouse William Johnson with daughters Alexis (Ben Faust) and Rachel (Keith Stern); Mark Tartaglia; Christine Tartaglia and children Aidan and Olivia Nuttall; Robert Tartaglia and spouse Linda with children Gianna and Luke; Matthew Tartaglia and spouse Danielle with daughters, Paige, Ava and Madeline. Also, surviving Virginia is her brother John and wife Dorothy and their daughter Francine of Ventura, CA. and Joan Stanton, wife of Virginia’s deceased brother Edward, their children and extended family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 10:00 am at Saint Mary’s Cathedral, 151 N Warren St, Trenton, NJ, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
