Carmella (Millie) Purgavie, 73, of Hamilton, died Wednesday in the Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Born in Trenton, she had been a resident of Hamilton for fifty-two years. Millie was a 1932 graduate of Trenton Central High School. She retired from the New Jersey State Police as a civilian employee in 1997, after thirty years of service and was currently employed by the credit union at the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety and at the Log Cabin Gift Shop within the museum for the New Jersey Former Trooper's Association. Daughter of the late Dominick Sr. and Ermelinda DiDonato Pintinalli, sister of the late Dominick Pintinalli Jr. and grandmother of the late Corinne M. Biddulph, she is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years James A. Purgavie, her daughter Linda and son-in-law Bill Hobson, of Hamilton, her son James and her daughter-in-law Lynn Purgavie of Boca Raton, FL., her daughter Victoria and her son-in-law Scott Biddulph of Bordentown, four grandchildren, Tara and Scott Biddulph and Maria and Gina Purgavie, her sister Rita G. Scozzari of Pennington, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends and a very special friend of forty-nine years, Gloria Hendrickson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in the Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 6 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Faith Development Center of the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 or to the Cooper Cancer Institute, C/O Cooper Foundation, 1 Cooper Plaza, Camden, NJ 08103 to honor her physician Dr. Alexandre Hageboutros and his wife Dr. Ghada Haddad who have helped us through this difficult and painful time.
