Obituary of Lois Richard

Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lois Richard, 89, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Saturday at Merwick Care and Rehab Center, Plainsboro, NJ. Born in Kenton, Ohio, she was a Lawrenceville resident for 56 years. Lois was a kind and generous person, a loving wife and mother and great friend to many. Helping others came naturally to her, and will be one of the things most remembered by those who knew her. After her own bout with breast cancer she became involved with the Reach To Recovery program in order to help other women during a very difficult time in their lives. She remained active in that program for some years and other programs to help fight cancer for much of the rest of her life. She had many interests throughout her life including needlepoint, cross stitch and quilting. She belonged to the quilting group at her church for many years and looked forward to their weekly meetings. She was a member and past president of the Garden Gate Garden Club. She worked in retail ladies fashion for a time and later became a real estate agent working with Stockton among others. She started playing golf in her late thirties and continued into her early eighties. Her smile and laugh along with her ever present support will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. Daughter of the late Cleo D. and Ruth Rockwell, and sister to the late Jeanne Donnenwirth and Richard Rockwell Sr. and wife to her beloved late husband Clarence "Bud" Richard, she is survived by her three sons, Charles, Scot and Steven. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church 1039 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. A viewing for Lois will be held on Friday evening from 6-8PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment will follow at Lawrenceville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Lois’ memory to the charity of choice.
