Edmond H. Carter, Sr., 91, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Saturday, October 5 at Lawrenceville Nursing Home. Born in Georgia Creek, KY, and growing up in Shawnee Hills, OH, he was a longtime resident of Lawrenceville. Edmond was a Veteran of WWII having proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant with the US Army serving in three major campaigns in North Africa and Italy. Edmond received the Combat Infantrymen Badge, three Bronze Stars for valor and two Good Conduct Medals, in addition to European and North African Campaign Medals. He retired from Lawrenceville Fuel, where he was employed as an Oil Burner Mechanic. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Husband of the late Mary J. Carter; he is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law Edmond H. and Katherine Carter, Jr., and Wayne R. Carter; his daughter and son-in-law Sharon L. and Joseph Strasser; three grandsons Christopher Carter (Jennifer), Michael Carter (Jessica), and Ryan Strasser; two granddaughters Elizabeth Jones (Jeffrey), and Kayla Strasser; two great-grandchildren Kylie Carter and Brayden Carter; many brother, sisters, nieces and nephews. A viewing for Edmond will be held on Thursday, October 10 from 9-10:30AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. A funeral service will follow at 10:30AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project 1120 G Street NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005
