Obituary of Anna May Gandner

Anna May Gandner (nee Stanziale), 97, of Brick, died on Wednesday at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brick.
Born in Trenton and a former Ewing and Lawrenceville resident she had resided in Brick for the past five years.
She graduated from Trenton Central High School, received a bachelors of arts degree from Trenton State College, and masters degree in education from New York University. She retired from the Trenton School district after teaching for 33 years in the elementary schools. Years before her retirement she created and taught a remedial reading program for the schools.
Anna May had been a longtime member for the American Association of University Women, a charter member of the Friends of Ewing Library, member of the Friends of Lawrence Library, a lifetime member of MCREA, and a member of the Rosary Alter Society at the Church of St. Ann.
Daughter of the late Luigi and Rosina Valetta Stanziale, and wife of the late John J. Gandner, she is survived by her daughter, Rosemary M. Gandner, her son Greg Angelo J. Gandner and his longtime partner Sue A. Dreier, her niece Elizabeth DeCello and her three sons, and several cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her three sisters and brothers-in-law: Elizabeth and Norman Hauck, Helen and James Hynde, and Mildred and Vincent Hindley.
Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at The Church of St. Ann, Lawrenceville. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton.
Friends may call on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made in Anna May’s name to The Faith Development Center, The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
