Obituary of Steven D. Adams

Steven D. Adams, 64, of Ewing Township, died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at AtlantiCare Hospital in Atlantic City surrounded by his loving family. Born in Prince William County, Virginia, Steve grew up in Penns Grove, New Jersey and was a resident of Ewing Township for the past 23 years. After graduating from Trenton State College, Steve worked 26 years for the State of New Jersey’s Bureau of Parole starting as a Parole Officer and retiring as an Administrator in 2000. A brief retirement was followed by 11 years of working for the Juvenile Justice Commission as an Assistant Director. A truly gentle soul and loving father, Steve enjoyed golfing, spending time with family and friends on Long Beach Island, reading, listening to music, and above all, time with Michelle and his girls. His kind and giving spirit touched the lives and hearts of everyone he met. Steve was the son of the late William Adams and Marie Nixon; stepfather William Nixon; and is predeceased by his brother David and brother-in-law Warren Johnson. Steve is survived by his wife Michelle Ianni Adams and daughters Chelsea and Alyssa; brothers George and his wife Patti of Montana; Rick and his wife Susan of Delaware; sister Lori and her husband Terry of Carney’s Point, New Jersey; step-sister Cindy Johnson of Carney’s Point, and step-brother William S. Nixon of Vineland, New Jersey. Steve is also survived by his in-laws Karen and Greg Vida, Bryan and Denise Ianni, Doug Ianni and a host of nieces and nephews. Relatives and family may share their condolences with the family on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Poulson &Van Hise Funeral Home, 650 Lawrence Road (Route 206) in Lawrenceville, New Jersey from 6 PM to 9 PM as well as Friday, September 27, 2013 from 9AM to 10 AM. Services will follow at 10 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
