Obituary of Harold W. MacDonald

Harold W. MacDonald, 87, of Lawrenceville entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 22 at Princeton Medical Center, Plainsboro, NJ.
Born to his beloved parents Alan and Helen Robinson MacDonald in Philadelphia, PA Mr. MacDonald was a graduate of Lower Merion High School and the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School.
Mr. MacDonald was employed with PSE&G and retired as Manager - Employee Relations.
As a convert to Catholicism, he embraced the Catholic faith. Prior to his illness he attended daily Mass at the Church of St. Ann. He was a former member of the choir, served on the Parish Council and was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector.
Mr. MacDonald served as a President and Vice-President of NAMI Mercer (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill) and was a champion for treatment for those suffering from mental illness.
He was a watercolor artist and his paintings were in various local shows. Several of them were donated for fundraisers at Catholic Charities, the Lawrenceville Women’s Club Scholarship Fund and local schools.
Mr. MacDonald was an avid fan of the University of Pennsylvania football and basketball teams and he never missed listening to or watching a game.
As a former member of the Trenton Country Club, he enjoyed hosting family and friends for special occasions.
He was predeceased by his first wife of 39 years, Marie Owens MacDonald and his brother George MacDonald. He is survived by his second wife of 20 years, Sheila Angeloni-MacDonald, his seven children, Alan MacDonald, Thomas MacDonald and his wife Lisa, Peter MacDonald, Joan MacDonald, Jeanne Moserowitz, Robert MacDonald and David MacDonald and his wife Celia, his grandchildren, Jeffrey and Matthew MacDonald, Kathleen and Megan McCurdy, Michael, Gregory and Daniel Moserowitz and Luke and Jude MacDonald. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Dominic Angeloni, his sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Bob deFlesco, niece Kimberly deFlesco, niece Lindsey Casey and her husband Patrick, nephew Bob deFlesco and his wife Sarah and a grand niece, Brooke Casey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceville Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 9:30 AM until time of Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made to NAMI Mercer, Lawrence Commons, 3371 Brunswick Pike, Suite 124, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 or to the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
