José Oliveira Campos, M.D., 87, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Fortaleza Ceará, Brasil; he was a longtime Lawrenceville resident. Dr. Campos was educated at Faculdade de Medicina Salvador in Bahia Brazil graduating among the first in his class. He did his pathology residency at Fitkin Memorial Hospital, (now Jersey Shore Medical Center) in Neptune, NJ; and at Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed his fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. Dr. Campos was an attending Pathologist at Fitkin Memorial Hospital from 1963 to 1967 and joined Campo Associate Pathologist at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ, from 1967 until his retirement in 1993 after 27 years of service. He was Assistant Director of Laboratories at both St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton. Dr. Campos was a longtime parishioner at The Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and Doctor. Son of the late Raimundo Nonato de Oliveira and Osmina Campos de Oliveira; brother of the late Raimundo Campos de Oliveira, Maria do Carmo de Oliveira Barbosa, his sisters-in-law Estér Campos de Oliveira and Iracema Augosto de Oliveira, his brother-in-law Nelson Barbosa; he is survived by his wife Diva Lyra Campos; his brothers José Alberto Campos de Oliveira and José Hernane Campos de Oliveira; his sister-in-law Socorro Augosto de Oliveira; his children and their spouses Joseph Oliveira Campos (Susan Anne Campos), Maria Campos Toft, M.D. ( Dennis Michael Toft, Sr.), Paul Oliveira Campos (Eileen Campos) and Mark Edmund Campos (Amy Linn Campos); his grandchildren Catherine Anne Campos, Joseph Paul Campos, Benjamin William Campos, William Campos Toft, Richard Patrick Toft, Elizabeth Lyra Toft, Dennis Michael Toft, Jr., Margaret Diva Toft, Sammuel Mark Campos and Caleb Paul Campos; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30AM at The Church of St. Ann 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Relatives and friends can call on Thursday, August 29 from 6-8PM and again on Friday from 9-10AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Food for the Poor, FFP Headquarters, 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073. http://www.foodforthepoor.org
