John R. Slavkovsky, Sr., 78, of Lawrenceville, died Friday in the St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center in Lawrenceville.
Born in Trenton, he had resided in Lawrenceville since 1958.
He was a graduate of Trenton Catholic High School and Lehigh University.
Mr. Slavkovsky retired in 1994 as a supervisor with U.S. Steel Fairless Works after forty-two years of service.
He was an Army veteran of WW II.
Mr. Slavkovsky was a member of the Jednota First Slovak Catholic Union.
Son of the late Joseph and Anna Blisko Slavkovsky and father of the late Judy A. Slavkovsky, he is survived by his wife Eileen Myers Slavkovsky, three sons John R. Slavkovsky, Jr., James T. Slavkovsky and his fiance' Cynthia Burd and Jeffrey C. Slavkovsky. Also surviving are two sisters Doris Milla and her husband Joseph and Anne Foy and her husband John, two grandchildren Leslie Anne Giovacchini and Louis Steven Giovacchini.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 11 AM in the Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 9 to 10:30 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will be private in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, Center Pointe II, Suite 103, 1160 Route 22 East, Bridgewater, NJ 08807
