Helen Emmons, 72, died on Friday at her home in Lawrenceville. Born in Trenton, she was a Lawrenceville resident most of her life. Helen was a registered nurse for most of her life. She had been employed by Newton Memorial Hospital in Sussex County and retired from Carrier Clinic in 2006. Helen was a member of The Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church. She belonged to the quilting group and tutored English for The English School at The Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed traveling, and the shore, and she loved flowers, butterflies and cats. Helen will always be remembered for her sweet and caring nature. Daughter of the late John L. and Lottie Skworzec Westenburger, and wife of the late Lee Emmons, she is survived by her son John Emmons, her sister and brother-in-law; Barbara and Robert Wilkes, and her cousins; Warren Westenburger (Nancy), Linda Patt (Greg), Jacqueline Suozzo, Cindy Orsi, Loe Orsi and Andrea Pinto ( Tom). Her funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. at The Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church, 1039 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will be private. Friends may call on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Helen’s name to The Lawrence Road Church, 1039 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
