Dorothy Lynch Nestor aka “Mary Poppins of Princeton”, 82, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Tuesday at Capital Health Medical Center, Hopewell. Born in Trenton, she was a resident of Lawrence for 61 years. Dorothy retired in 1982 from Westinghouse, where she was employed as a machine operator. After her retirement, she became a child caretaker and became known as “Mary Poppins of Princeton”. She was a parishioner at The Church of St. Ann, a member of the Altar Rosary Society and volunteered at St. Ann’s School. Dorothy was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Erin, the Princeton Lioness club and was active with the Girl Scouts. Some of her hobbies included traveling, reading, playing cards and yearly trips to Cape May. Dorothy loved the theatre and made her Broadway debut at age 70. Daughter of the late Thomas Lynch and Rae Worthington; wife of the late Martin S. Nestor; she is survived by 3 daughters and 1 son-in-law Catherine and George Johnson of Princeton, Linda Lee Nestor of Lawrenceville and Marta Lowe of Hamilton Sq.; her son Martin F. Nestor of Lawrenceville; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; her dear friends Renee and Jack Cuneo, Bernice Shuster and Patricia Daloisio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11AM at The Church of St. Ann 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Relatives and friends can call on Thursday from 10-11AM in the Daily Chapel at the Church. Interment will follow at Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton, NJ.
