Obituary of Barbara Van Doren

Barbara K. Van Doren, 69, beloved wife of Robert, died peacefully at home on Sunday, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara first came to Lawrence Township to study at Rider College, where she earned her bachelor's degree in business administration. Barbara was a resident of Lawrenceville for 41 years. In addition to raising her two children, Barbara was household "comptroller", as her son called her, and an active member of her church. Her marriage to Bob was an inspiration to many -- no two people enjoyed each other's company more than they did and they never missed an opportunity to kiss or hold hands. Barbara loved gardening and any kind of yard work, baking her famous chocolate chip cookies, and above all spending time with family and friends. She was always ready to celebrate. She was a warm and loving person who brought joy to many and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband Bob, her children Mark and Monica, Monica's husband Joe, her three sisters, Katharine, Christine, and Marie, and beloved nieces, nephews, and godchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10am at the Church of the Sacred Heart, 343 S. Broad St., Trenton. Burial will be private. Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8pm at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville.
