Josephine M. McCarthy, 88, of Lawrenceville, died Monday at the Compassionate Hospice in Trenton. Born in Upper Manhattan in New York City, Josephine resided in Staten Island and Fanwood before moving to Lawrenceville in 1976. Josephine was a retired librarian with M.W. Kellogg in Jersey City. She was a member of the Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville. Daughter of the late John and Marie Lynch Doyle, she is survived by her beloved husband Michael J. McCarthy, two daughters Frances J. McCarthy and Margaret McCarthy, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 11 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road in Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 noon at The Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Hedwig Cemetery in Ewing Township. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions in Josephine’s memory be made to the American Cancer Society, 2600 U.S. Highway #1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902 or the Friends of Mercer County Library, Lawrence Branch, 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
