Bernice Mills, 82, of Ewing, died on Saturday, April 21, at the The JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, in Edison. Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident. Her nickname, Bernie, suited her enthusiastic and outgoing personality. She had a generous spirit, always thinking of others before herself. Mrs. Mills earned her bachelors and masters in education from Trenton State College. After 29 years as a Librarian with the Parkway Elementary School, she retired in 1999. Mrs. Mills then taught at the Antheil School a few days a week until just last June. She was beloved by the thousands of children she taught, sharing with them her love of children’s books. Daughter of the late Donald and Theresa Kestner Knoblauch, and wife of the late Jay T. Mills, she is survived by her three daughters; Amy Ipp and her husband Michael, Peg Sciarrotta and her husband Brian, and Jenny Mills; her grandchildren: Daniel and Margaret Ipp, Ashley and Mary Brooke Sciarrotta, and Taylor Mills, and her sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Donald Haws. Her sisters Donna Knoblauch, and Kate Rudnick predeceased her. She was the centerpiece of her family and will be missed by her many friends. Burial Office will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 300 S. Main Street in Pennington, with the Rev. Jack Belmont, Rector, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ewing Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 9 to 10 AM at the church.
