Please share a memory of Lydia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lydia J. Sabo, 75, of Hamilton Township passed away on April 11, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital at Hamilton. Born in Trenton on March 4, 1937 she was a lifelong area resident. Lydia worked for Circle F Industries as a piece maker and supervisor at Mead and Monmouth Streets for 30 years. She also worked for the Trenton Police Department for 10 years as a school crossing guard. Everyone loved Miss Lee as she was called as she touched many children’s lives. Lydia also worked for the State of NJ, Division of Revenue, Treasury Department for 22 years as a clerk. They all loved Ms Lydia as she was fondly called by many co-workers and friends. She was also called Ma Ma Doo. Daughter of the late James and Lydia Applegate Carney, wife of the late Stephen J. Sabo, Sr., sister of the late Jean, Muriel, Tom, John and Larry, she is survived by her sons and daughters-in law, James and Laureen Carney of Tuckerton, Stephen J. Sabo, Jr. of Bensalem, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn M. and Chuck Sabo-Lasky of Hamilton; her grandchildren, Laureen and Corinne Carney and Sierra Sabo. Also surviving are her sister, Betty Lou Horhash, sister-in-law, Susie Carney, her brothers, Donald Carney, Harry Francis and William and Jackie Francis along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many friends and her faithful canine companion Mia who brought so much joy and happiness to her life. Lydia’s love of her life were her children and grandchildren and her dog Mia, they were the apples of her eyes. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to Parx Casino. She was the best cook around and enjoyed making special dinners for her family. Lydia was a very strong independent woman and fought one courageous battle after another with her lymphoma and lung cancer. She always had a positive attitude and outlook and didn’t let the cancer beat her but she couldn’t fight the COPD. Lydia was the best mother and nanny in the world and is irreplaceable. She is now an Angel in Heaven. We are so blessed and honored to be her children. We find comfort in our hearts knowing our mother Lydia has gone home to be with our father Steve. Lydia’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 8 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd, Lawrenceville with the clergy of Our Lady of Sorrows/St. Anthony’s Parish officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5PM until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.
