Hans J. Guenzel, 79, of Lawrenceville, died on Thursday at Capital Health System at Fuld in Trenton. Born in Adamsthal, Czechoslavakia, he later lived in Gaimersheim Germany before immigrating to the United States in 1957. A former resident of Ewing for 35 years, he moved to Lawrenceville in 2001. Mr. Guenzel was a forklift operator for 40 years at Homasote in Ewing before retiring in 1998. Son of the late Johan and Paula Haberecht Guenzel, and brother of the late; Wilma Zrobok and his twin sister Margarethe Schauer, he is survived by his wife, Lucie Brandmeyer Guenzel, his son and daughter-in-law, Hans H. and Andrea L. Guenzel, his grandchildren; Hunter T. and Krista N. Guenzel, Brothers Wielfried and Herbert Guenzel and their families in Germany and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Hans will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, with Pastor Rebecca Resch of the Abiding Presence Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Ewing Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834 or to the Prospect Heights Fire Company, 1660 Ninth Street, Ewing, NJ 08638.
