Anne Marie Joachim aka “Mommy George” 84, departed this world on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 6:50pm at the University Medical Center of Princeton. She was born on Nov.18, 1926 in Mirebalais, Haiti where she was raised and educated. Mommy George left Haiti on Feb 21, 1970 & migrated to the U.S. where she would be able to provide a better life for her family. Anne Marie Joachim was a long time resident of Princeton, NJ from 1972-2011 and she was also one of the first Haitians to migrate from Haiti to Princeton. She was employed as a private duty housekeeper in NY for 2 yrs from 1970-1972. Mommy George was also employed as a housekeeper by the University Medical Center of Princeton from 1972-1994 where she retired in the month of November. Mrs. Joachim was a dedicated and faithful member of The First Haitian Church of God in Trenton, for 32 years. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord & helping others. Everyone knew her as the mother of The First Haitian Church of God. Not only was she a devoted mother & grandmother but she has impacted so many lives in many different ways. Mommy George was married to the late George Joachim for many years. She is survived by her 3 sons: Robertson Joachim, Marc-Arland Joachim, Clifford Coulate, 7 daughters: Margaret Lalanne, Marie Guervil, Elmyre Baker, Carmel St.Fleur, Marjorie Laguerre, Hildegarde Joachim, and Kethlyn Joachim, her late son George Joachim Jr, her adopted sons, Brisma Chatelier, Jean Geffrard, 28 grandchildren, 3 great-grand children, cousins, nieces, nephews, two brothers Max and Emmanuel, in laws, close friends & church members. Family and friends may call this evening from 7 to 9 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd/Rt. 206, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. The Funeral will be held on Saturday Nov 19, 2011 at 7am at The First Haitian Church of God at 1501 Greenwood Ave Trenton, NJ. Interment will be in Ewing Cemetery at 78 Scotch Road Ewing, NJ 08628.
