Obituary of Richard Dick Kinney

Richard J. (Dick) Kinney, 78, of Lawrenceville died Monday at Capital Health System at Fuld, Trenton. Born in Allentown, Pa; and raised in Yardley, Pa; Dick was a resident of Lawrenceville for the past 52 years. Dick was a graduate of Yardley High School Class of 1947. While a youth growing up in Yardley he was a caddy at the Yardley Country Club and an assistant to the club pro. He was also a volunteer with the Yardley Fire Company. He served his country in the U.S. Army and after being honorably discharged attended Rider College. He then established his own State Farm Insurance Agency in Ewing Township serving his clients for 35 years before retiring in 1990. He was a former arbitrator with the central New Jersey Better Business Bureau, was a past District Republican Committeeman in Lawrenceville for 20 years and also served as a volunteer with the St. Lawrence Rehabilitation and as a driver for Meals-on-Wheels. Dick was a former member of the Hopewell Valley Country Club, a member of American Legion Post 414 and the V.F.W. Post 3022 both of Lawrenceville. He was also an antique car buff. He was known as an avid golfer and as such, after retiring from business, Dick enjoyed being a starter at Mercer Oaks Golf Course, Mt. View Golf Course and Princeton Country Club. Son of the late William T. R. Kinney and Katheryn M. McCarthy Kinney, he is survived by his wife, Irene Posluszny Kinney; a daughter Karen Nalbone of Lawrence Township; a son, Kevin Kinney and his wife Maureen of Coopersburg, Pa; a daughter Kim Kinney and her husband Kenneth Rauth of Ewing; a son, Kurt Kinney and his wife Pamella of Lawrenceville; five grandchildren, Kevin Rauth, Kenneth Rauth, Jr; Anjelica, Christine and Cara Kinney; a sister, Patricia Chamberlain of Yardley, Pa; and a brother, John T. R. Kinney of Sacramento, CA; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. His funeral will begin on Friday at 9 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd, Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Hedwig Church, Trenton. Burial will be in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Ewing Twp. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
