Obituary of Mafalda Sally Tiziker

Mafalda (Orsi) Tiziker (a.k.a Sally), 94, of Pennington, died Tuesday at Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton. Born in the Chambersburg section of Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident. Her parents owned Orsi’s Grocery and Butcher Shop on Emory Avenue in Trenton. Mafalda lived in Lawrenceville for 45 years. Mrs. Tiziker was formerly employed at General Motors in Ewing Township. She worked on automobiles as well as the Avenger WWII fighter aircraft. She retired in 1960. Later, she worked at Little Leisure Nursery School in Pennington, NJ. She was a member of the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church and was active in the church quilters group. Mafalda will be remembered as a craft maker (sewing, quilting and crocheting), a gardener and known for her cooking. Mafalda was well known as an Excellent cook and had an appreciation for good food. She loved to have family picnics in the backyard. Daughter of the late Santo and Ida DeAngelis Orsi, wife of the late Joseph Tiziker, and sister of the late Pasquale Orsi, Marie Chiaradia, Mildred DiGiorgio, Pearl Valeriani and Angelina “Jill” Pulianas, she is survived by a son, Joseph Tiziker and his wife Sharon, two grandchildren Morgan and Samantha Tiziker, and two sisters and two brothers-in-law Yolanda Mattioli and Minnie and Bob Vecere and Rocco “Al” Chiaradia as well as many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM at the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church, 1039 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville with Reverend Dr. Nina Peck Reeder, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton. Family and friends may call on Monday from 6 PM to 8 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church.
