Obituary of Joseph F. Karatka

Joseph F. Karatka, 84, of Lawrenceville died Sunday, April 24th at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Medical Center. Born in Trenton he was a resident of Lawrenceville for the past 60 years. Joseph retired from PSE&G in 1988 after 35 years of service. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a life member of American Legion Post #414 of Lawrenceville. He was also a life member of the Lawrence Road Volunteer Fire Company (Station #22) and the Lawrence Twp Emergency First Aid Squad. He enjoyed boating and fishing in his leisure time but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family. Son of the late Joseph and Mary Horvath Karatka he is survived by his wife Marie Carlin Karatka; a daughter Joan Nuhn and her husband Dennis of Alexandria Township, NJ; a son Joseph Karatka and his wife Kathy of Hamilton and a daughter Christine Karatka of Lawrenceville; 8 grandchildren, Christopher and Lauren Nuhn, Joey, Jeffrey and his wife Ashley, Jeremy, John, Jay and Amy Karatka; 3 sisters, Mary Adams, Rose Murga and Elizabeth Bergner and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Joseph will be held on Monday at 12 Noon at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville with the Rev. Vincent Gartland, pastor of the Church of St. Ann officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Hamilton. Friends may call on Monday from 10 AM until time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
