Obituary of Francis J. Trainor

Francis J. Trainor, 88, of Lawrenceville, died Friday at the Mercerville Center Genesis Health Care. Born in Trenton, he was a life long area resident. He was veteran of World War II and attained the rank of Master Sergeant with the Signal Corps. Mr. Trainor retired after thirty years as a butcher with Bentley's Market, formerly of Lawrenceville. He was a member and former president of the Lawrence Township Senior Citizens Club # 5, former director of the Silvertones, past director of the Notre Dame Fathers Glee Club, former Ewing Township Boy Scout leader, a volunteer with the Parkinson's disease support group and an honorary member of the Lawrenceville Fire Company. Son of the late James and Katherine Shaudys Trainor and husband of the late Eleanora Costello Trainor and father of the late Brian Eugene Trainor, he is survived by his wife Dolores Scullin Trainor, one son and two daughters-in-law Francis and Elizabeth Trainor and Melody Trainor, two daughters and sons-in-law Maureen and Mark Nestor and Maureen (Thorne) Adams and her husband Michael. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Stefanie Trainor, Brian Trainor and his wife Denise, Francis Trainor and his wife Linda, April Comer and her husband Richard, Joyce Butera and her husband Frank, Gillian and Andrew Adams, and twelve great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother Joseph Trainor and two sisters Ann Steffen and Kathleen Trainor, a sister-in-law Dorothy Benson, an aunt Lucy Rutkowski, several nieces nephews and cousins and special friends Dr. Gerald Picard and his wife Scharma and their children. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM in the Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville. Burial will be private in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hamilton. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Francis' name be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, N.Y. 10163.
