Joseph Paul Ruberto, 78, of Lawrenceville died peacefully on Saturday at the Lawrenceville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pettoranello di Molise, Italy, Joe immigrated to the United States in 1947. He attended Princeton High School prior to his apprenticeship at the Waldorf Astoria Culinary School in New York City. After the Waldorf Astoria he served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the Army he was employed as a chef with the Princeton Inn from 1955 until 1970. In 1970 he became the head chef at the Cock ‘n Bull restaurant at Peddler’s Village in Lahaska, PA and worked there until 1987. He then retired in 1998 from Lieggi’s Ewing Manor in West Trenton. Joe was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed bowling in his leisure. He was also a parishioner of the Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville. Son of the late Mauro and Giovannina Cifelli Ruberto and brother of the late Livorno Ruberto, he is survived by his wife, Wilma Young Ruberto; two sons, Tim Ruberto and his wife Sharon of Lawrenceville and Joe Ruberto and his wife Christine of Westfield; a daughter, Linda Hahn and her husband Joel of Alexandria, VA; three grandchildren, Krystle and Jacqueline Ruberto and Jake Hahn; two sisters, Gina Lieggi and her husband Ennio and Rita Schioppa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joe’s funeral will be held on Thursday beginning at 9 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 Am at the Church of St. Ann, Lawrenceville. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
