Obituary of Eleanor C. Gulden

Please share a memory of Eleanor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eleanor C. Gulden, 86, died peacefully on Tuesday at her home. A lifelong Lawrence resident and a 1941 graduate of Trenton High School, she worked as a book-keeper at John A. Roebling & Sons prior to helping to build her new home and starting a family. Eleanor was a devoted mother and grandmother who tried to instill upon her children the importance of faith and prayer, patriotism, education and hard work and an appreciation of history, diversity, culture and the Arts. She enjoyed going to museums, galleries, music concerts, the theatre, craft shows and festivals of all kinds. Her strongest passion was observing nature’s beauty, particularly the ever-changing skies, flowers, gardens, trees and the hummingbirds that visited the feeders in her yard year round. She had bright eyes, an engaging smile and a wonderful disposition which endeared her to many of her neighbors and friends at Capital Health cardiac rehab and the Lawrence Seniors Center. Eleanor was a member of the Church of St. Ann, the National Railway Historical Society and AARP. Her favorite pastimes were reading, playing scrabble and solving word puzzles. She especially enjoyed spending time with and going places with family members. Born in Trenton to the late Marion H. and John C. Mooney, she was also predeceased by her brother John C. Mooney, Jr. and her husbands Richard G. Henne and Edward R. Gulden. She is survived by her favorite aunt, Anne Fisher of Los Altos, CA; beloved sister-in-law, Betsy Mooney of Mesa AZ; daughters, Marion L. Angell of Langhorne, PA; Janet V., Barbara A. and Sandra E. Henne all of Lawrence; Beverly J. Ritorto (Bart) of Bordentown; and sons, Richard G. Henne, Jr. (Susan) of Mesa AZ; Ronald N. Henne (Leslie) of Franklin Park; John E. Gulden (Michele) of Mansfield and Conrad Gulden (Sarah) of Wrightstown NJ: also by stepchildren, Robert E. Gulden (Cathy) of New Castle, DE; Eileen Von Schmidt (Tom) of Browns Mills and Nancy S. Gulden of Burlington and their families.. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Monica L. Seabridge (John) of Titusville; Cheri L. Heyse of Lawrence; David and Steven Henne of Mesa, AZ; Sean, Arielle, Brian, Brad, Brandon, Derek, Arlynne and Korrynn Claire Gulden and by great-grandchildren Ryan and Scott Seabridge and Lily Faye Gulden; also by dear sisters-in law, Caryl Ann Kelley, Betty Lou Henne and Marsha Bradford; fond nieces, Karen Korte, Kathleen Coffee and a close nephew Peter Coffee as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews on her father’s side. She will be missed terribly by all who knew her and will never be forgotten by those she loved. Services are private.
