John J. Bleach Obituary

John J. Bleach passed away on Tuesday October 9th at Compassionate Care Hospice at the St. Francis Medical Center.


Born and raised in Bayonne, John lived in Brick for 20 years before moving to St. Mary's Assisted Living at Morris Hall in December of 2006. John was an ironworker and worked in construction his entire life.


John served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II who served in the South Pacific with the 24th U.S. Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees). He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars.


Son of the late John and Ellen Lyons Bleach, husband of the late Marie Cullen Bleach, brother of the late Ellen Demcsak, Catherine Dougherty, Rita Scott and Michael Bleach, he is survived by his niece and her husband, Judith and Charles O'Brien of Princeton; a sister Marie Hayes, and a brother William Bleach both of Virginia and many nieces and nephews.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Princeton. Entombment will be in St. Gertrude's Cemetery Mausoleum in Colonia. Family and friends may call on Friday from 9:15 to 10:15 at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville.
