Alice A. Podesta, 90, of North Andover, MA, died on Friday at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. Born in Mount Pocono, and a former resident of Lawrenceville she had resided in North Andover for the past 6 months. Mrs. Podesta graduated from Montclair State College in 1941 with her bachelor's degree in education. She was a teacher in the Plainfield and Lawrence Twp. high schools. Mrs. Podesta had served on the board of directors for ARC Mercer since 1969. Daughter of the late Leo and Anna Ryan Ariel, wife of the late Victor Podesta, and sister of the late Genevieve Ariel, Lee Pervier, and Margaret Grohs; she is survived by her two daughters; Mary C “Katie” McDermott and her husband Sam, Annie Rose and her husband Kevin, her son, Steve Podesta, her grandchildren Matthew and Danny, and two nieces and one nephew. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel at Morris Hall, 1 Bishops' Drive, Lawrenceville. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 9 until 10 AM at the Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel. Burial will be in Ewing Cemetery, Ewing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Alice’s memory be made to ARC Mercer, 180 Ewingville Road, Ewing, NJ 08638 to the attention of Steve Cook.
