Obituary of Veronica Ronnie Simancik

Veronica “Ronnie” Simancik, 61, of Morrisville died Friday at Chandler Hall, Newtown, Pa. Born in Philadelphia she was a resident of Morrisville for the past 27 years. Ronnie was a graduate of Nazareth Academy, Class of 1966. Following graduation she began her career as an X-Ray technician with Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia. She later became proficient with CAT scan and MRI technology and was certified to administer both as a mobile operator to several local hospitals. Later Ronnie served as an office manager for a local eye physician and retired after 11 years of service in 2008 due to her health. Ronnie was a very active member of her parish, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lower Makefield and served in many capacities. She was a Eucharistic Minister, past president of the Home & School committee, former chairman of the Jesse Tree committee and Bakery Basket committee. She was also a very active in the Boy Scouts of America. She served as a den mother for 5 years at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Yardley, Pack 46, and helped organize several other area packs. She was a founder and chairman of Troop 191 at St. John the Evangelist. Among her many achievements, she was awarded the St. John Neumann Scout Award, and the St. George Emblem, the highest adult award in scouting. She also was a recipient of the Chapel of the Four Chaplains, Legion of Honor award and was a certified counselor for the Ad Altare Dei emblem by the National Catholic Committee on scouting. For many years she also designed the commemorative patches for the catholic retreat for scouting. Daughter of the late Edmund and Phyllis Campbell Brown, she is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Simancik and her devoted son Christopher Simancik, both of Morrisville, her beloved sister Penny Sherry of Levittown and her niece Donna Sherry of Philadelphia. Ronnie’s memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 752 Big Oak Road, Morrisville with the Rev. Michael J. Gerlach officiating. Private family burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10 AM until time of mass at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
