Josephine A. Spencer, 85, of Lawrenceville died on Saturday at Compassionate Care Hospice, St. Francis Hospital in Trenton. Born in Brooklyn, NY she had been a Lawrenceville resident for the past fifty years. Mrs. Spencer volunteered at St. Lawrence RehabilitationCenter and in her parish of St. Ann as a catechist and receptionist. Her friendly affirming spirit and readiness to help whenever needed have enhanced the lives of many. Daughter of the late John and Mary Miccio Zanca, and wife of the late Clarence Spencer, she is survived by her three nieces; Jackie Zanca, Jennifer Lindsey, and Gloria Mehlan, her nephew, Mark Powler and two grand nieces. She was also predeceased by her six sisters and two brothers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at The Church of St, Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 9 to 10 AM at the church. Burial will be in the Stanhope Union Cemetery, Stanhope, NJ.
