Obituary of Joseph Holdridge Sutterley

Joseph Holdridge Sutterley, 90, of Ewing, died at his home on Friday. Born in Lambertville, he had been a resident of Ewing for the past 40 years. Joseph was a Chief Warrant Officer 4 in the U.S. Marine Corps and served during World War II, the Korean War and Viet Nam before retiring in 1969 after 30 years of service. Joseph was then employed as a dock foreman for Roadway Express for 16 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion in Lambertville and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Son of the late William and Myrtle Emery Sutterley, and brother of the late George Sutterley and Fay Clarke, he is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Agnes Cook Sutterley, his daughter and son-in-law; Joan and John Rodriguez, his two sons; David Sutterley and his wife Linda and William Sutterley, his three grandchildren; David, Kristy, and Brian Sutterley, his sister, Grace Elizabeth Sutterley and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville with Reverend Nina Reeder, pastor of the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Lambertville. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
