Bertie V. Robbins, 91, of Lawrenceville, died Monday at the Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in Hamilton. Born in Trenton, he lived his entire life in Lawrence Township. Bert was the co-owner of Bailey Millwork formerly of Lawrenceville and later owned and operated the Lawrence Bar & Liquors in the Lawrence Shopping Plaza. He was an Army veteran of WW II and participated in the Normandy invasion. Bert was a Life Member of the Slackwood Fire Company, member and former commander of Lawrence Post 3022 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and member of the North Trenton American Legion Post 458. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed playing golf. Son of the late Arthur and Evelyn Mitchell Robbins and husband of the late Olive Bennett Robbins, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Dale and Kathy Robbins, and a granddaughter and her husband Dawn and Rob Santello. Also surviving are two great grandchildren Katelyn and Haley Santello, a brother Walter Robbins and his wife Rose and a sister Elsie “Pat” Kunkle. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:15 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville with Father Jack Belmont, Rector, of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Pennington officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. V.F. W. services will be held at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Bert’s memory be made to the Slackwood Fire Company, 21 Slack Avenue, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
