William R. Bailey LAWRENCEVILLE - William R. Bailey, 74, died Friday at the Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton. Born in Trenton, and a graduate of Trenton Central High School, he was a lifelong resident of Lawrence Township. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. Mr. Bailey was a skilled woodworker who owned and operated Bailey's Architectural Millwork in Lawrenceville, then Stairs by Bailey before retiring in 2000. He was an avid fisherman and boater and enjoyed spending many of his summer weekends in Chincoteague, VA with his wife. He was also a camera and photography enthusiast. Mr. Bailey was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville and the Elks Club B. P. O. E. #1955 of Hightstown. Son of the late Thomas and Emily Bennett Bailey, he is survived by his wife Joan Griggs Bailey; his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Diane Bailey; his two daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Reid Sullivan, and Diane and Richard Ferrari; and his two granddaughters Kerri and Kristin Sullivan. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville with Mary Alice Lyman, the associate pastor of The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, officiating. Entombment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hamilton. Friends may call Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. The Bailey family extends their gratitude to the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice for the special care and attention they showed William and therefore asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation Headquarters, 4949 Ogletown Stanton Road, Suite 107, Newark, DE 19713.
