Robert Bliss Hallett, 74, of Ewing died on Sunday in his home at Bella Vista Farm.

Born in Montclair and formerly of the Commonwealth of Virginia, he was a Ewing resident for the past 6 years in his longtime family home.

He was a graduate of Montclair High School and received his BS in education from Trenton State.

Robert served in the Army during the Korean War.

Robert was a sixth grade teacher for the Lawrence Twp Schools for ten years. Entering the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1968, he served as a Special Agent and specialized in forensic sciences for documents and impressions. While there, Robert testified in a landmark case for barefoot impressions. He retired from federal service in 1989. After retirement from the FBI, he did private consulting and worked as a Forensic Scientist for the Commonwealth of Virginia State Police Forensic Lab. He retired from state service in 1999.

Robert was a member of the Society of Former Special Agents and the National Rifle Association.

Son of the late Robert Winton and Ann Bliss Hallett, he is survived by his wife Barbara Potts Hallett, his two sons: Major Robert John Hallett, USMC and his wife Lee of Spotsylvania, VA, and Captain Richard Douglas Hallett, USMC of Oceanside, CA, his daughter and son-in-law: Darielle and Frank Pasquito of Hopewell, five grandchildren: Caeli Renee, Robert Josiah and Ainsley Bliss Hallett and Connor Frank and Rylind Clare Pasquito. Also surviving is his sister Marilyn Jones and her husband Ed, his cousin Samuel Alfred Andrew, his aunt Betty Lou Allen, his mother-in-law, Jane Potts and his brothers-in-law: Lawrence H. and Andrew W. Potts.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM from Poulson & Van Hise, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau St., Princeton. Burial will be in Ewing Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, P.O. Box 420, Quantico, VA. 22134.
