Basil A. Guiliano, 61, of Lawrenceville died Thursday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa. Born in Bronx, NY, Basil was a resident of Lawrenceville for over 30 years. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering, cum laude, from Manhattan College, Riverdale, NY in 1970. He then served his country in the U.S. Army having served in Viet Nam as a medical laboratory technician. He began his professional career with the FMC Corporation of Princeton in 1973 and remained there until he retired in 2002. He was a Principal Engineer with the responsibility for implementation of process development programs for the Chemicals Product Group, Agricultural Products Group and the Specialty Products Group. His accomplishments resulted in being awarded with numerous patents over his career with FMC. Basil also managed the implementation of process development programs, developed and executed pilot plant programs, managed facility related installation projects for the pilot plants and coordinated plant expansion programs to increase capacity to meet customer demands. After his retirement from FMC he returned as a consultant and remained with the company until 2005. He then joined the Universal Display Corporation in Ewing as a technical writer and engineer. Most recently he held a position with the Environmental Protection Agency. Son of the late Altobello and Carmela Nicolini Guiliano he is survived by his brother, John Guiliano, a sister, Joann Leo, 3 nieces, a nephew and 3 great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 1 PM at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Friends may call on Monday from 10 AM to 1 PM in the daily chapel at the Church of St. Ann. Committal will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
