Mary J. Butler, 83, of Lawrenceville, died Wednesday at the University Medical Center at Princeton with her loving family at her side. Mary was born and lived her entire life in Lawrenceville. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School class of 1944 and a proud member of the Cathedral High School Alumni Association. Mary was a member of the Church of St. Ann and the Altar Rosary Society. She was formerly employed by the State of New Jersey Bureau of Children's Services and later retired from the State of New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance. Daughter of the late Charles E. Connell and Myrtle Durling Connell, she is survived by her husband of sixty-four years John A. Butler, a daughter Janet A. Gresh and her husband Larry, and two grandchildren Kevin and Stephen Gresh. Also surviving are a sister Patricia Shelmet and her husband Walter, two brothers Charles E. Connell Jr. and his wife Marion, Daniel E. Connell and his wife Dolores, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Monday at 9AM from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at the Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hamilton. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. The Altar Rosary will hold their service at 6:30 PM.
